About Us

DSRA Educational and Welfare Trust is a Non Profit Organization set up as a Charitable Trust in April 2004 for providing educational, technical and material support to the needy persons. It is managed by a Board of Trustees from diverse background verifying from educationist, accountants, retired Military, civil service officers, bankers, businessmen and housewives whose professional acumen, experience and devoted altruism has been recognized by Pakistan Centre For Philanthropy (PCP).

Its first project is an English Medium school, registered and recognized by Sindh Government, established on Mahmoodabad Road, Karachi for the children of underprivileged families living in its vicinity where in addition to free education, free uniforms, shoes, text books, stationery and a free snack daily is provided to 185 students from Nursery to Class IX and is employing 18 lady teachers and staff from the area. The Trust was certified and ranked amongst the top scoring organization by PCP and received score of 93% in its Internal Governance with an overall 83%.

After successful operation of the first project, the Trust has initiated to build second campus of two schools for Boys and Girls at Junejo Town, Karachi for the children of underprivileged families living in Akhtar Colony, Manzoor Colony and Azam Basti.

The Mission of the Trust is to provide free quality education to the underprivileged irrespective of religion, caste, creed, gender, ethnic, social or linguistic background. The aim is to give these children their right for basic education to transform their lives and improve the quality of life of their families. The Trust is endeavoring to provide a friendly and supportive environment for learning which promotes independent and creative thought and educational skills to become useful members of the society. Beside the formal curriculum there is an emphasis on character building of students including good mannerism, moral values and hygiene termed as “Hidden Curriculum” which was appreciated by PCP as a unique feature. 

The Trust Deed stipulates that the income for the Trust derived from any source is only to be utilized for achieving its objective. Annual Audit of the accounts is carried out by Muniff Ziauddin Junaidy & Co who also submits Income Tax returns. The accounts are open for inspection by any interested member of the public.
